About Bassam Kyrillos
IBassam Kyrillos is a Lebanese sculptor born in Byblos in 1970, where he continues to live and work. A leading figure in contemporary Lebanese art, he holds degrees in Visual Arts from the Lebanese University, Damascus University, and the University of Sorbonne in Paris, where he completed his PhD in 2014. Kyrillos is known for his powerful sculptural works that explore architecture, destruction, regeneration, memory and resilience. Working with bronze, aluminium, cement, soil and industrial materials, his pieces often evoke fragile urban structures marked by conflict yet carrying a sense of survival and renewal. His work has been exhibited widely in Lebanon and internationally, including in Paris, Doha, Basel, China, Bahrain, Egypt, Hong Kong and New York. He is currently Professor of Painting and Sculpture at the Lebanese University in Beirut.
