
Armen Adilkhanian
Armen Adilkhanyan — also written Armen Adilkhanian and known as Adil — is a contemporary Armenian artist born in 1959 in Yerevan, Armenia. He studied art in Yerevan, including at art colleges from 1974–1978 and the Art Academia in Yerevan from 1978–1984. Adilkhanyan is known for his distinctive figurative mixed-media works, often combining painting, graphic detail, symbolism and handcrafted wooden elements. His paintings frequently include stylized human figures, birds, houses, decorative patterns and dreamlike scenes, creating a theatrical and storybook atmosphere rooted in Armenian visual culture. His work blends folk-inspired imagery with contemporary expression, using vibrant colors, intricate motifs and symbolic compositions.
