Houmam Al Sayed is a contemporary Syrian artist known for his large-scale figurative paintings. Born in Damascus in 1981, he studied sculpture at the Institute of Applied Arts in Damascus and began exhibiting his work at a young age. Al Sayed’s work is characterized by a stooped male figure with a distorted face, representing the widespread public oppression in the Middle East. He works across various media, including painting, drawing, and sculpture, and has exhibited throughout Syria and in group shows and symposiums in the Arab world and Europe.
