About Sarah Francis

Sarah grew up and studied in Beirut. In 2013 she produced and directed ‘Birds of September/ Touyour Ayloul’ (documentary, essay, 99 min) which premiered in the CPH:Dox main competition (Copenhagen) then screened in over 40 festivals and museums (Art of the Real’ Lincoln Center (NY), Stedelijk Museum (NL), Doxa (Ca), DMZ Docs (South Korea) etc..) and received several awards. Her works also include short films and videos (notably ‘Nawal’s Rituals’ , produced by Ashkal Alwan, 2014). Her second feature film ‘As Above so below’/ Kama Fissamaa’ Kathalika alal ard’ premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2020 and toured internationally. Her third feature film ‘Dead Dog/Kalb Saken just premiered at Rotterdam International Film Festival 2025. Between 2020-2023, she started painting and participated in collective exhibitions at Jeanine Rbeiz and Zalfa Halabi’s galleries.
