Marwan Sahmarani

Marwan Sahmarani is a contemporary artist whose textured paintings draw heavy inspiration from early landscape painting traditions, while also incorporating abstract and expressionist tendencies. His work reflects his experiences living in both Beirut and Tarbena, Spain, and he is particularly influenced by Picasso’s Guernica, which he sees as analogous to the violence he has witnessed in Lebanon. Sahmarani’s art serves as a way to see the reality of the region through his unique perspective.
