ZOHRAB Keshishian was a distinguished Lebanese-Armenian painter renowned for his contributions to the regional art scene. Born in 1943 in Aleppo, Syria, he pursued his education at Mesrobian School and Gemaran College, focusing on academic painting studies.
He further honed his artistic skills at the Greek Atelier Sirios in Aleppo, the Italian Atelier Juliano in Lebanon, and the Faculté des Beaux-Arts in Kaslik. These diverse influences shaped a style that blended classical technique with emotional depth and cultural resonance.
Throughout his career, he held numerous solo exhibitions across the Middle East, Europe, and North America, including notable shows in Beirut, Aleppo, Kuwait, Nicosia, New York, and California. His work encompassed various mediums, and he also contributed to cinematographic posters and theater decoration.
He passed away in February 2017, but his art remains — timeless, textured, and deeply human — echoing the voice of an artist who saw the world not only as it is, but as it could be imagined.
