About Emmanuel Guiragossian

A sense of turbulence and drama, and yet a liveliness and harmony lie beneath the immediate chaos that is apparent in the works of Emmanuel Guiragossian. Belonging to the 6th generation of a renowned family of artists, Emmanuel notes that one of his most formative experiences was listening to his grandmother’s stories as a child. But these were not typical bedtime stories, but were in fact his grandmother’s account of surviving a genocide, a civil war, and two world wars. As a derivative of that formative, deeply personal influence, his oil on canvas work exuded a sense of drama from the very onset.
