About Omar Onsi

Omar Onsi was a Lebanese artist known for his watercolor paintings of landscapes, traditional scenes, and nude figures. He favored modest colors, textures, and shapes, and was skilled at accurately sketching whatever lay before him. His work often depicted Lebanon and its mountainous villages, as well as the urban landscape of Beirut. Onsi established a local reputation through several group and solo exhibitions in the 1930s and continued to exhibit his work internationally. He argued that aesthetically valuable art required intellectual grounding and co-founded the Lebanese Association for Artists, Painters, and Sculptors in 1957.
